Huh? I don't think so. It was a real jerk, though, so I threw it in the ocean.

[It is entirely possible Mabel did in fact run into a murderous cave crab. We will never know, because she hallucinates on the regular as it is and something like that just doesn't cross her radar as anything worth making note of until it's accompanied by actively getting super sick, which did not happen here.

Also something that happens on the regular is Mabel's tendency for small bleeding injuries which she forgets about almost immediately. Our saving grace here is that Mabel has been very thoroughly trained to be afraid of things like tetanus, so given the location of this one she at least paused to get a bandage from a Waker before she went around getting sand and stuff all in the cut, even if having her leg get infected and fall off would just mean getting a cool prosthetic, preferably with a jet powered pogo stick in it. She unwraps the bandage now, and bothers to look at what's actually going on with her foot for the first time.]

[No one wants Mabel to have whatever Mabel thinks squid powers are so fortunately she is wrong.]

[Dipper sputters brilliantly for a moment, because he had hoped that Mabel's blood was glowing and matching his own. He was not prepared for her to give him an answer that was completely different.]

Wait, wait, it's green!? Seriously!? Let me see!

[He gets up to totally get a closer look.]

If you get squid powers I'm moving into my own room.

[He wants no part of what Mabel might think Squid Powers are, 100%.]

Yeah, you should be afraid of my squid powers.

[Helpfully, she holds her foot up with both hands, so Dipper can better see her oozing wound. Her leg doesn't actually bend that way so she has to tilt over somewhat but they are both used to this kind of thing.]

See? It's totally green. Gross!

You poke me with weird stuff while I sleep enough as it is.

[He does not want to wake up to squid tentacles.]

[Anyway he's all but climbing onto the table to get a closer look at her food.]

Hold still, I'm going to take a sample.

[Which is a totally normal Dipper thing to be said. He riffles in his bag for ...huh. Looks like it might have been an empty salt shaker he stole off a table somewhere near the hotdog stands. Anyway he is going to collect some of that if she doesn't move first.]

[Mabel is not much better and is totally sitting here letting him do it, but like. Bruh.]

Please, "weird" stopped sounding like a real word to me the moment we crawled out of the ocean without bones.

[Easy...easy...and there! One green sister!sample. There's a pause and-]

[He sniffs the bottle with an expression that is both baffled, curious, and alarmed.]

Huh. It smells like flowers.

[Mabel stares at the vial.

Mabel stares, contemplative, at her own foot, which she is still holding.

Mabel picks her foot up higher so that she can sniff it, and in doing so, goes toppling backward entirely.]

Aaah!

[It's true, crawling out of the ocean without bones has changed approximately nothing. Except their blood, apparently.]

[There she goes. Dipper was impressed she'd managed the position as long as she did, though. A true feat of sister balance.]

[Dipper caps the vial and sets it down and then climbs off the table to go make sure she's actually okay.]

Do you need another band-aid?

[Have a hand.]

[Totally unaffected by her fall as usual, Mabel accepts her brother's hand, carefully standing on her uninjured foot and holding the other up in an attempt to keep it clean.]

Are you getting samples from everybody?

[So, it certainly says something that Dipper has had such a day that he has come to possess something like bandages in his welcome bag. It's directly related to the sample collecting. It's also why he has a knife now. Where did he get the knife? Who knows!]

I'm gonna try. It seems too important not to study. I'll show you mine in a second.

[He will just get to work on her foot while she has it up. That way she doesn't just topple back again. Once that is done, he will get back to the table and set an empty bottle next to Mabel's sample. It's probably the matching empty pepper shaker.]

[Out comes the knife and he makes a small cut on his finger. Boy it sure is glowing, which catches Dipper off guard.]

I knew it!

[Why does brobro get a knife? Mabel wants a knife. She's gonna find one.]
